George Washington University Hospital broke the law by engaging in regressive bargaining with unionized workers and improperly withdrawing recognition of the union, a National Labor Relations Board judge ruled. However, the hospital disputes this and is appealing the decision
The George Washington University Hospital committed a series of serious labor law violations during an anti-union campaign that culminated in the facility unilaterally ending its recognition of a decades-old employees’ union, a federal labor board judge found.
There have been 117 homicides in D.C. so far this year. Of those, 74 were killed in Wards 7 and 8.
Still, the only hospital east of the Anacostia River — United Medical Center — has no trauma center to treat victims of violent crime and other life-threatening emergencies. The four hospitals in the District that treat trauma victims around the clock are all located in affluent Northwest Washington.
